Tax Notice To Be Issued With Document ID Number Starting October 2019

 

From October 1, any notice issued by the Income Tax department for tax claim will have to be issued with a Document Identification Number (DIN). There are few fraudulent notices, received which makes assessee confused.

 

"When a notice is issued to an assessee with a claim, the notice will have to be issued with a document identification number (DIN). Unless there is a DIN, the assessee is well within his rights to consider the notice as not issued", Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said

Following is the online process to check if you have received notice is from Income Tax Department.

 

Step 1

Go the to site of E Filing Income Tax by clicking here

 

 

Step 2

Click on Notice Order Issued by ITD

 

 

Step 3

You can search based on Document Number or by providing PAN, Notice Section, Month and Year

 

It will show in the resulting page the authenticity of notice with basic details like date of issue and Asssessing Officer details.
